Ephesus, one of the best preserved archaeological sites in the world, is also the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis. Ephesus used to be one of the largest cities in the world during the Roman Empire era. Virgin Mary was brought to Ephesus by St.Paul where she lived her final days. The small and modest house was cemented by Popes Paul VI and John Paul II as a pilgrimage site for Christians.
